Falling in love again,
I probably drive my SL less than most anyone here. It’s a fourth vehicle in our household and my wife doesn’t drive it. That said, when I DO take it for a drive, I fall in love all over again! Yesterday was one of those “picture postcard” days in South Orange County, where the skies were clear, the sun was out, the ocean was blue and the temp was right around 70. I snapped this photo as I drove down San Joaquin Hills Rd. in Corona Del Mar. I had come from a drive through Laguna Canyon and up Newport Coast. Some days I can’t believe how beautiful it is here and how fortunate I am to have this truly marvelous SL. Long live the R231’s!

I know the feeling. It’s a beautiful day up here in Everett, Wa. today. The only problem is it’s cold and was below freezing this morning.

I wish we had your weather. To be able to drive with such beautiful roads and scenery with weather to boot would be amazing. It's been gray and blah for weeks now. But in moments of blue skies I take the SL out. Just this past Thursday we went out for our weekly date night- same place, same bar stools, same 6-7 couples to talk to. Something really enjoyable about having a wonderful meal with random friends sitting at the bar of a great restaurant. Anywho, took the SL and even though it was 49 degrees I put the windows and screen up and hit the seats and air scarf. My better half said this was good litmus test, she was totally comfortable which means mothballs have been avoided...

I have to agree. I’ve only done 17,000 miles in 4+ years in mine (now mostly many short journeys because of COVID) ) but it never gets old driving it. Unfortunately, I could not take it to Ireland last week when I visited my sister who lives on a route called “The Wild Atlantic Way”. Absolutely stunning scenery. We did the top half of teh WAW in the SL 3 years ago and got lots of compliments on the car wherever we stopped. We drove from Belfast around the top of Ireland and down to my sister who lives on the west coast on Galway bay.
We will complete the WAW next summer.
