Need Help With Floor Mat Order

I hope someone can help me with ordering new floor mats for my 2015 SL. I have spoken to Lloyds and they sent me the design of the mats for both the 2013-2016 cars and the newer 2017-2020 models.

The biggest difference in the two mats are in the driver's mat. The earlier design does not go to the top of the footrest and does not contain the third grommet. The newer design is slightly wider at the bottom and should cover the floor more completely especially up to the edge of the console. It also has a longer flap that does go to the top of the footrest and has the third grommet.

Can anyone confirm if there is any difference in the floor of the earlier model SLs and the newer models? I guess the best clue would be if anyone has successfully used a set of mats in both an older model SL and then moved those same mats to a newer model.

I have attached a drawing of both mat styles. I would really like to use the newer mat with the third grommet and more floor coverage if it will fit in my car and match up to the grommet snaps.

I sincerely appreciate any help anyone can give me.

May help to do an overlay…
If the drawings are accurate. You can see the newer Loyds floor mat, drivers side, is cut narrower near the transmission tunnel. Perhaps the 9sp transmission tunnel is slightly larger?
If it’s any help the 2013 factory floor mats are 28-13/16” x 18.5” . I would think the other issue would be if the grommets are in the right location. Maybe you can get the dimensions from a facelift r231.

Looks like the Lloyd's definitely go under the seats further so that accounts for the extra length. My main concern is the grommet locations. My factory drivers mat leaves about a 2 inch gap on the side of the mat where it meets the console. The newer mats appears to be wider in this area. The problem with the drawings is they don't appear to be drawn on the same scale.

Yeah, they’re not real CAD drawings and only appear to be more “profile” drawings. 😕

Why not buying the OEM ones, they're very good quality and the fit to your car. I have them and love them....just my 0.2

The listings on ebay for OEM mats show they fit all 2013 to 2020 models. True for carpet and rubber mats.

That is helpful, ZCARGUY. My main concern is the placement of the grommet snaps. I measured my factory mats to compare their dimensions with the newer mats. I'm fairly confident that the newer mats will fit but if it turns out they don't fit I will try sell them at a nice discount to someone who can use them. I think Lloyds updated the newer style to more fully cover the floor and also extend the footrest flap so that the 3rd grommet can be used. I did see one post from someone who ordered Lloyds mats for the pre-facelift cars and was upset when the 3rd grommet was not installed. Instead Lloyds provides Velcro to keep the flap in place. I'm hoping that someone with a pre-facelfit car can confirm that the newer mats will fit perfectly in a pre-facelift SL. Thanks for your info.

Added: I found this listing on ebay for OEM mats. https://www.ebay.com/itm/17189296685...oAAOSwlKlbrPwP

Says it fits all models from 2013 to 2020 so this confirms what ZCARGUY posted. If the OEM mats are all the same for all model years then the later style from Lloyds should fit.

The OEM mats are pretty nice but I like to have 2 sets of mats, one for the winter and one for the nicer months. The OEM mats are almost twice the cost of the Lloyds mats.

I much prefer the Lloyd Luxe mats. The carpet is much more plush, and the greater coverage and using the OEM grommets is a plus. The only thing missing is the Mercedes Benz plate.

I have a 2015 and the first set of mats I bought on ebay from germanyparts were junk. The second set was from Mercedessammelsurium, part number 174180870962 were a perfect fit and genuine MB part shipped from Germany for $190. They have an AMG logo on them.

I've received the mats but my wife is holding them as a Christmas gift. I will post something when I finally put them in the SL.

My 2015 SL400 was delivered to me with new all-weather genuine Mercedes mats and has the third grommet for the left foot rest. I have found in the past that genuine mats are nearly the same price as Weathertech mats. Is that what you are looking for? I also have brand new carpet floor mats that I probably never use.

I wanted a nice plush carpet mat for good weather. Wife hates the all weather non-carpet mats. We only use the SL on nice days. I do have floor liners in our X5 during the winter months. I'll be putting the new Lloyds Luxe mats in the car after wintertime.

Final update: I did check the fit of the Lloyds mats this morning. They fit perfectly. Not sure why Lloyds has 2 different patterns for our SL model. The updated style for the facelift cars should fit all earlier models.

I have their Luxe top-of-the-line mats in 4 cars including the SL450. Super plush and great quality. I usually get them from AutoAnything with at least 10% off and free shipping, with about a 10 day delivery.

If you contact Lloyds through their website, they'll mail you samples.

Luxe mats. They are the thickest and plushest mat offered by Lloyds.

How do they look next to the OEM carpet? Any chance you could post a picture! I want these I think!

I should have ordered EBONY instead of BLACK. Still looks fine.

Thanks. I also ordered black as I was concerned ebony was more of a charcoal grey but I think my OEM mats are darker than those posted above. Haven't installed the Lloyds mat yet as I'm waiting for Spring.
