Active Park Assist

I have the Active Park Assist (Code 235) and the little blue P when traveling below 18 mph, but cannot seem to get it to activate and self park. This also shows up as PARKTRONIC with Active Parking Assist and is part of the P01 Premium Package. Does anyone use this and can tell me what I should be doing?

Thanks

I have the exact same question. I also get a beep when driving around at low speeds. I a thinking this also has something to do with this feature. Am I crazy?

After you pass the parking spot you put the transmission into reverse and at the prompt push the ok button. Google the process. There are dozens of sites explaining the process. Out of three SL’s I have only used the system once. It is a wasted option in my case.

I've tried that but don't see the prompt. Where is it displayed?

Also, when I first got the car, it would show little triangular arrows pointing right or left from the little parking symbol P. It doesn't do that now. I've scanned for codes but there are none.

Found the “problem”. I’ll be posting details shortly.

The "problem" was that the features (PARKTRONIC and Active Park Assist) were not enabled. Using my Autel MaxiDAS DS808 scan tool, I performed the following steps:
  1. Open Module ZGW (Central Gateway) (Channel 24).
  2. After ensuring there are no stored DTCs, select Control unit adaptations.
  3. Select Configuration.
  4. Select Coding.
  5. Select Display of coding data. (There is a message saying Establishing vehicle communication that takes several minutes.)
  6. Scroll down to item 059 Parktronic and select Available (assuming it says Not available).
  7. Scroll down further to item 066 Active Park Assist and select Available.
  8. Scroll down to 078 Advanced Parking Control and select Available (mine was already showing Available).
  9. At the bottom of the screen (or wherever it might be in Xentry) select the Coding button. It then takes you through several confirming questions and ends with Completed (doing this last part from memory).
  10. Return to the Control unit adaptations screen and select Programming follow-up routine and cycle through until it says Completed (again, doing this from memory).
  11. Return to the Control unit adaptations screen and select Teach-in processes and cycle through until it says Completed.
  12. Exit out of the program.
After performing these steps, it now displays the little triangular arrow next the the P symbol and asks if I want to use parking assist when I put the car in reverse. Selecting OK and giving a little gas, the steering wheel takes over. The only problem I had was it tried to parallel park in a normal parking lot. But there was only one car that I passed by, so the car did not see any other obstacles to prevent it from parallel parking. I still need to do some testing, but for now it seems to work well. I did find that if I canceled parking assist I had to drive over the minimum speed to activate it again.

Detailed instructions in the owners manual - an extract below for your convenience - it will also drive itself out of the space.......

I frequently have to reverse parallel park and I find it very useful. I’m 6’2” and still cannot see the corners of the car which makes it difficult to RPP. Parking bays in the USA are a lot bigger (certainly in all the parts I have visited and driven) than what we have here and on the continent.

@rorywquin Thanks for the input. Still, I had to activate the features using my scan tool for those steps in the owners manual to work.

Creader Elite ?

Hi ...

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone tried to enable Active Park Assist with a Creader Elite scanner tool by Launch ?

I could not translate the Autel MaxiDAS DS808 functions .....

Thanks !

Seems odd that you would have to do coding to enable the feature if the car has the option. I haven't checked, but is it possible it can be enabled in the system menu somewhere?

No, it is not enabled... I think it is similar situation as to what is defined & fixed in the thread above by JettaRed, just don't know how to use the Creader Elite to program it. I checked my VIN and the Active Park Assist , code 235, is valid for my car.
