changing seating/phone priority

When we got our SL400, my wife was planning to be the primary driver so the blue tooth phone connects with her phone first and the seats are set up for her as driver number 1. But I quickly became the primary driver of the car and while the seat memory number is no problem, the blue tooth connecting to her phone instead of mine when both are in range is becoming a problem for me. I use music from my phone and want blue tooth to hook up with it first so I do not have to constantly change the connection. Is there an easy way to swap the setting or do I have to delete my wife's phone and then add it back again so it is in the second position?

Not an answer for you but I do find it strange how a top European car lacks in some features that would be considered normal in a USA car. Back in the early 2000s I had a Dodge Durango with the HEMI engine and everything was coded to 2 key fobs. 1 for my wife one for me.

IIRC it set

Seats
Steering wheel
Pedals
Mirrors (outside)
Preferred radio station
A/c
Don’t remember what happened with phones

I suppose it is more to go wrong but it was pretty handy.

It might be something the Mods4Cars guys could add (if you have a module).

I'm pretty sure the same can be done with the Mercedes key. Have you tried? I know each key is uniquely registered/sync'd with the car.

I think this may be more of a Bluetooth characteristic as to which phone connects first. You can always try to "forget" your wife's phone and add it back in. I mean, who wears the pants in your house anyway? (Just kidding of course. My wife does.)

This raises a similar issue I'm having. I added the Road Top CarPlay kit and am finding that if I am connected to both the car's BT and the Road Top BT and have an incoming call while in CarPlay mode, the caller can hear me but I cannot hear the caller. When checking the connection on my phone for the call, it is defaulted to CarPlay. I must switch to the car's BT to hear the caller through my speakers. If I "forget" the car within my list of BT devices on my iPhone, everything works well when receiving a call. If I add the car back in to the BT list, it messes up again. Road Top's solution is to delete the car from my iPhone list of BT devices. But, if I happen to be switched to the factory COMAND mode, I lose the hands-free calling feature unless I switch back to the CarPlay system.

If I could configure the connection priority to be the car for all calls, that would be perfect. But I haven't been able to figure that out.

SL 400
When my wife and I are in her GLK she is the main driver of that vehicle and so she always connects. Unless she goes in a store and I remain in the SUV and turn the vehicle off and on my phone will not connect to her ride. Once she is out of range my phone will connect. The only way I know of and have seen work to have my phone connect over hers is to have her toggle off bluetooth on her phone until my phone connects first, or let me get into the ride first to connect and a minute later she comes out and gets in.

No. My wife refuses to drive my car.

The first time she drove my SLK350 she floored the accelerator like she was driving her A-Class & took off like a scalded cat .

She never drove it again and refuses to drive the SL.
