I assumed that’s what he is talking about too. You and I placed our units in the same space and it has worked well.
I have heard others say it is tight when trying to go behind the head unit and that’s one of the reasons I didn’t want to use that space.
I have plenty of room. I put the module in the webbing basket in footwell passenger seat. But for some reason I can not push the dash back into place without scratching the leather or breaking the dash.
I thought maybe this “rotating locking system “ could be the culprit.
Anyone else have the experience of having to really bend and force the dash back into place?
if you placed the module in the footwell then you are talking about something different than JettaRed and myself, because our modules are in the glovebox. Take a video of the issue you are having and post it for us to see and try to figure it out, because there is nothing that prevents anything from going back where it came from.

I recently had a problem where I could not hear music playing from any app (iHeart, iTunes, etc.) and view maps/navigation (Waze, Maps, Google Maps, etc.) at the same time. As soon as I switched to the map app, the music would mute. I could see on the multi-window screen the music playing but could not hear it. I used my scan tool to reset/restart the MOST network and that seemed to fix the issue.
Interesting.
How long did it take for you to get and use the scan tool and then correct it? The reason I ask is I am curious if simply unplugging the unit and powering it back up might have been a quicker way to reset things, or do you think the issue needed the scan tool?
The only issue I ever have is sometimes the unit wont connect to my phone. Whenever that happens it tells me on my phone to "forget the device" and re-pair. That probably happens once a month. As you know it takes about a minute to re-pair and connect again.
Glad you got it sorted out..

I tried unplugging the Road Top unit, but not restarting it through software, and that didn't work. Using the Creader, I found the module for COMAND and there was a special function that allowed me to restart MOST. I will try to find it again and post screenshots.
By the way, there is an update to the Road Top software. You can reach out to them at RoadTopDirect@outlook.com and ask about it.

NOTE: You can also restart MOST under the Actuation Test selection. I discovered that the iCarsoft scanner also can do this when selecting Activation or Actuation Test from the Audio20/COMAND-Audio or COMAND(A2-A40/3) module.
Better later than never I suppose. Thanks for posting this thread. It just keeps on giving.
I bought the unit last week and I'm looking forward to installation. I've already fixed the rear speaker issue with a Blaupunkt amplifier.

Don't try to squeeze everything behind the head unit. Put the CarPlay controller in the glove box and run the cable through a hole in the side. There may already be a knock-out to do so. I will check mine tomorrow.

it's going in the glove box. I want access to it without taking everything apart again.
Better late than never is a fact of life. No need to suppose. lol.

Agreed. One of the best choices is the glove box. Yes there is a knock -out as shown in my install post..

I'm sorry to bring back a thread from a bit ago, but these directions are so perfect, and explicit - I wanted to follow up with a question:
2016 R231
Bought RoadTop CarPlay
Followed the directions to the Tee - EXCEPT I didn't test before putting back together (yeah...oops).
Started up, no screen and SRS/Airbag error. Opened it back up, unplugged and replugged everything - same.
Took it all out and error went away and screen worked.
I have never heard of anyone having the issues you have mentioned, but I know that sucks. Yeah, "oops" on not testing before buttoning things back up.
My guess is that some of the dip switch settings are incorrect, or the new wires you are connecting are not seated properly, or you may have switched the wrong wires to the factory head unit. If you double check all of those and the issue has not been resolved I would reach out to roadtop for tech assist. Others may still chime in here after a bit, so hang in there. Sometimes work schedules, etc. prevent quick replies.....

I have just installed the RoadTop Carplay interface which I bought from AliExpress into my Mercedes B Class 2012 (W246) and I am getting no sound when I switch to the CarPlay interface.
I have a AMI socket under my arm rest and I have connected the audio cable that came with the device to this port.
I have also made sure I selected Aux in the Audio settings before switching to the Carplay interface. I have also checked the Engineering settings and made sure that Audio Aux is on. Do I need to check anything else in the Engineering setting? I think its currently set to Internal Amplifier.
I have sound in Command interface. That is all working well.
I contacted the seller and he suggested that I need to connect the two ground wires. Did anyone else have to do this? I guess I will give this a try as I have nothing else to try at the moment.
Maybe I am just misunderstanding because I did not get much sleep last night, but I am confused as to why the ground wires would not be connected? EVERYONE connected the ground wires at install, because you will get horrible static, or no sound if you do not. You may also damage the unit by not grounding it. I am speaking on those of us with the R231. I do not know about installs on your model, but ground wires are a must in general.

That’s correct and it never has been listed. Initially I had to call and speak with them to confirm that the unit would work with the R231, which they obviously confirmed.
I am not sure why they have not updated their list in all this time.

Not sure, I have never used Android as I am an Apple guy. If someone else doesn't chime in with that info you should give the company a call to check....
