Another battery maintaining question...

My SL is parked in a condo building garage that has no outlet anywhere near me to trickle charge. When I'm not using for months at a time, can I remove the trunk battery and trickle charge it separately or does it have to remain inside the car?

I had to store mine one year in a location without AC power, so I used the deep cycle AGM marine batteries from our boat with this charger: Optimate DC to DC, TM-500v3 to keep the SL battery from getting too low,

I had two marine batteries, and would swap them every 3-4 weeks to charge them back up.

Interesting question. I am quite sure you can remove it and put it on a maintainer in another location BUT you may lose some, most or all of your personal settings. Also, I am not sure if removal of the main battery will have any effect on the small auxiliary battery. Quite sure others will chime in with more reliable information. I have gone back to using 2 separate CTEK maintainers, one on each battery as I am still not convinced that using a single unit using the charge points under the hood or a pigtail attached directly to the main battery will maintain both batteries with a single maintainer.

Or perhaps you could buy an engine start power bank?

Your main battery will discharge over time but one of these should get you going when you need the car.
Just make sure you get one rated for your engine size....
