Could someone point out what hydraulic fluid to get. I had a leak in one of the hydraulic pipes in the trunk so now need to refill the hydraulic fluid. What fluid should i get? And any tricks to refill it. Did some research and couldn't find what to get. Stealership is charging arm and leg for it.

I think the easiest way to fill the reservoir is to use a syringe with a tube attached to it. That’s what the official MB tool looks like.
There should be a fill plug on the side of the plastic reservoir. (see last picture)
It’s fairly self explanatory, but I’ll try to post the procedure from the WIS (for the R231) when I get back into my shop, and have access to my laptop with SDS.

These leaks seem to be not uncommon. It appears from service records that the previous owner to my car had a line on the passenger side of the trunk replaced, and I had one on the driver side. Mine was covered by an extended warranty, but the invoice was about $1000. The hydraulic line part was about $100. Lots of labor involved.
