navigation audio

When I am using the navigaton system and have the radio on, the radio does not cut out when a new instruction comes on. It tries to speak through whatever is on the radio and is impossible to hear. If I turn the radio down to a very low volume, I can hear it. However, shouldn't the radio just cut out when the navigation system has an announcement? Am I doing something wrong?

Yes, I believe all audio should cease when Nav instructions are announced. At least that's how mine works.

My 2018 S560 and 2017 SL550 both play whatever is playing AND navigation instructions at the same time. Would love to know how to mute programing whenever navigation instructions are played.

When you hear the navigation instructions you should adjust the volume to what you want. It will not impact the radio volume. The volume you set for navigation is independent for other audio settings. It remembers your settings.

Just to clarify tbirdvets correct answer - you have to adjust the navi volume during a navigation announcement. If you wait till its finished, all you'll do is change the radio volume...
If I remember correctly there is a "repeat" function for navi announcements - button on the steering wheel (or am I getting confused with my Volvo?).
