how quick?

While coming home from golf a few days ago, my friend in his Macon S was following me and the next day commented on the quickness of my SL400. While I do not generally drive fast, I will occasionally put it in Sport Mode and then it is hard not to drive a lot quicker. I decided to check on the zero to 60 mph time on the internet and found a variety of times cited ranging from 4.5 to 5.2 seconds. Does anyone have more definitive data? This seems like a pretty wide range to me.

0-60 times can be all over the place. Numerous factors:
Ambient temperature
Type of tires
Tire pressure
Road surface
Just to name a few
Around 5 seconds is probably in the ballpark. It's incredible that the Model S Plaid can do it in under 2 seconds, at least that's what Elon says. LOL

0.7 seconds is a pretty wide range?? I'm reminded of when I was young and my friend would say "I'll pick you up 7:30-8" I would counter with "make it 7:39".

0-60 times are never the same. One test did it in 5.2 the other test did it in 4.5 and some people do 0-60 as a rollout so it’s not really a true 0-60. Best is to use an app or some sort of timing to get a more accurate number.

As stated, many factors affect it...the tires, the weather, the Driver , the amount of fuel in the tank, etc., etc. Take your times, throw out the highest (slowest) and lowest (fastest) numbers, and divide the remaining times to get your average. That's your time

It's pretty darn fast.

Fast enough to make me grin
Fast enough to lose my license, again
Fast enough that I make excuses to play
