SL/R231: Voice Calling

Voice Calling
We have a 2017 SL 550 and a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both vehicles lost the ability to use the voice calling feature, apparently related to the demise of the 3G phone network. Since we have a lifetime warranty on the Jeep and plan on keeping it for some time I was looking for a way to restore that feature. It turns out that their are aftermarket companies that offer refurbished systems from newer model year Jeeps that are plug and play.
I realize that the 550 SL is a much lower production vehicle so the market for this upgrade may not be sufficient for a company to do the development work and/or the MB system may not be amenable to upgrading but I thought I would at least ask if anyone else had found a solution to restoring this function. Thanks!

Robert, I have a '14 SL63. You should have some version of Car Play, whether Apple or Android. Right now you can hardwire your phone to the USB port in the center glove box but if you buy this AAWireless 2022 - Wireless Android/Apple Auto Dongle you will have full phone functionality on your center screen and will be able to make calls hands free and lots of other things....music, maps, etc...Available on Amazon.
