Distronic Fault + Adaptation Drive

Hi,

I have an R231 with distronic. It currently has the pre safe functions limited and blind spot assist inoperative. Cruise control also inoperative.

My local specialist plugged into into Xentry and there was a code for the front central distronic sensor behind the grille. Xentry was able to communincate with module but it has some sort of fault. My specialist says its needs a new radar which are £2500 from mercedes!

Since the diagnosis I have been doing some research and found it might just need a 'adaptation drive'. Does anyone know if an iCarsoft MB v3 or similar can enter this mode?

It just requires 20 mins or so of drive for it to calibrate itself.

Thanks,
Sam

adoption will likely not fix your problem as these radars go wrong often
you just get a used DTR radar from ebay for $300 max and code it

iCarJunk for kids will likely not help you there

Thanks for your reply, this was the code as you say looks like it needs replacement. When looking at the part numbers there are two, I assume the A000 is the newer one? The A212 is what I currently have fitted.

Can the coding be done with Xentry for the new ebay sensor? Doesn't need Vediamo or anything?

At those prices, I would definitely try Calibration first!

Sorry the code didn’t seem to add to previous message, my Merc Specialist said he wasn’t able to enter the calibration mode. I assume because of the fault

A000 prefix is usually assigned to reconditioned parts.

I haven’t looked up your part, but there may be some older superseded part numbers. Your control unit should have a part number on it.

Since your car already had Distronic and this isn’t a retrofit, the only “coding” should be having to calibrate the distance sensor via XENTRY.(Something similar to the video below). MB calls it “Adjusting and Parameterizing”

Hopefully they got the correct diagnosis and this isn’t a wheel sensor issue. Mileage?

In XENTRY, this is where you initiate calibration. Because of a replacement, see red arrow.
