Do 231’s require any software updates?
I feel sort of ridiculous asking this, having owned my 2019 SL450 for over five years now, but over on the R232 forum, I believe that the majority of talk is about “software updates.” I realize that the 231 & 232 SL’s are light years apart in most every way, but it got me thinking: Do the R231’s have ANY systems, other than the Navigation, that may require a software update?

You should be able to see if there are any MB Technical Service Bulletin for your car, go to the website at www.nhtsa.gov and run a check on your vehicle by entering its VIN number.
Typically MB does have firmware updates on individual components. Usually they’ll also update the part number in the latest EPC’s. Those can apply to major components like transmission TCU’s or even smaller individual electronic components like window motors or individual controllers. But anything major would probably have a TSB.
The R232 has a lot more electrical components for better or for worse, depending on how you look at these things 😕

As for all the electronics in the R232’s, no thanks! You can’t imagine how folks with those cars are having issues, such as lowering & raising the convertible top and talking about a software update to fix it. Our 231’s are SO much less complicated in comparison and I find that to be a wonderful thing!
