Colors of top

In the original DOG, there were three colors. Red, black and tan. Today I went to dealer to spec a 55 and only black and red were available. What gives? Anyone have definitive colors info?

I canceled/paused my order because so many option are delayed for 12/2022. Tan top, carbon steering wheel, active ride control, sport seats, etc...

The DOG posted here is dated 11/09/21, a week or two after the debut, and only has black and red (as did the previous release). I never saw an order guide here with tan as a top option.

S63 AMG Cabrio
This last one is correct (got it confirmed at the factory this week): there are currently 3 roof colors, Black (that is in real life lighter then the Black front wind shield, it is more Anthracite), Red (did see it in real life on a Patagonian Red car......that is not a good choice imho, on a black, white or silver/grey car it could work however) and Grey (maybe only works on a Grey or Blue car?).

The "problem" I see is too many colours on the outside with this Black windshield. I would either go for a black car (but then the black roof is noticeably lighter then the car and windshield.....) or for a Silver or Grey car, but then make the windshield in the same color (so NOT black). This will not be an official option on short notice, but can be done by the dealer easily.

I don't remember there ever being a tan top available. Not sure that would look good on the SL either considering its more aggressive styling.

Gurus:

I've been excited about every other SL......from the R107-R231 bought new. The earlier SLs were bought used but highly sought after.

I have some serious doubts about the R232 for myriad reasons....... 1. silly design aspects(the useless rear "seats", the all black windshield frame, the giant hyperscreen, etc) 2. lack of color choices for the soft top and interior------I want a white ext, blue interior and blue soft top(a 911 or Aston gladly offers those "exotic" colors ) 3. too much weight 4. soft top storage seems unfinished

Who makes these decisions??? Maybe survey previous SL buyers for some input???

I wonder who makes the decisions as well... my question to add to your thoughts would be...

Whoever thought that a manual windscreen that you have to get out of the car to remove, then fold it up, then put it in the trunk was a good design idea??? How could an AMG MB design engineer ever have thought this was a good idea?? I can understand that it is cheaper. I would have laughed the guy out of my office. It would be OK on a Miata or something like that.... but a luxury car, a MB ????...... come on.

The manual windscreen is an absolute fail, clumsy at best. For this much coin and supposedly the finest and most "sophisticated" roadster on the planet you need to get out of your car and attach it. Sure, that's luxurious and stylish.
