None of the dealers in the area are offering a test drive of the new SL as none of them have them in stock and have the ones that are incoming presold already. Often times, manufacturers will bring a car to the dealership for a day or two and the dealers invite customers to try the car. Does anyone know if Mercedes has an event like this going on or upcoming? Any strategies on how to test drive or sit in one?. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Mercedes is out of the event planning business for now. Your best bet is to contact your local dealer and see when they will have an unsold car you can drive. If you just want to sit in one Mercedes is sending a factory car out to the dealers for training purposes. See if your dealer has training coming up.

I assume you know the car has not been released yet. There is no pricing and it hasn’t received Homologation yet. So no dealer would have any in stock as all of them are sitting at the port in Germany. As Mercedesmax stated they are sending a training car around but not for test drives. The dealers are just being trained on the car and it moves on to the next dealer.
