Hesitant Acceleration & Downshifting

Hi all,

Curious if any other R232 owners have experienced what is a seemingly delayed/hesitant downshifting when at cruising speeds. If is almost a combined hesitation along w/ a delay in actual acceleration. It is subtle and the car does not "lose power" if you will.

I definitely have noticed it, I've had going on 7 different M177 powered cars and I've never noticed this. The car was bought brand new.

I have a close relationship w/ my advisor and he spoke w/ their lead tech and what I described, the tech said that it is a known issue w/ the SL and that MB is working on an update on the powertrain module and likely that it would come in the form of a recall.

Curious if anyone has had help w/ this.

Beautiful ride!

Sorry to hear the problem. This issue applies to both comfort and sport mode?

Yes, regardless of driving mode.

That is one quirk that I have not noticed. Response time has been linear, smooth, and responsive. But, I almost exclusively use the Race mode with all the max settings except the Master one which I think turns off all safety support.

My understanding is there is a "learning" that the different modes have. And how you drive regularly in those modes gradually "programs" the response you get. When the car is brand new it is in the easiest and weakest responses. And as you drive and the car learns more what you want it will respond accordingly. The same was true of my 2018 GTC. I would occasionally take it out on some back roads where I could really test its acceleration laterally in corners as well as braking and rapid acceleration. When I was first doing it for the day it responded much more lazily than at the end. Once the car "saw" with repetition what I wanted it became my best friend. Perhaps that is what you are experiencing. 'Twould be nice to also have an update to the tranny/engine to make it even better. I haven't taken my 2022 SL63 out for that back road driving.
