Purchased SL63 AMG

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. I just recently got a 2022 SL63 AMG (got it with around 500 miles so snagged a killer deal). Had a 911 GTS Cabrio on order with delivery for August, but after Porsche's recent price increase + dealer tacking on some extra costs, I didn't feel the car was worth the nearly $215k asking price (creeping into Turbo territory). I sat in this SL for the very first time last week and immediately fell in love. It was to me much more visually striking than a 911, the interior is miles better, and the V8 sounds infinitely better than the GTS's 6. Plus, I see quite a few 911s but rarely a new SL. I'll never track it, so the top line performance didn't really matter to me very much.

I had the car covered in XPEL Stealth PPF for added protection and have also had well over a dozen people on the road pull down their windows and ask about/compliment the car, which is always a nice bonus! Currently debating whether to re-badge the car (maybe just the side badges).

She'll be a good addition to the daily driver X7.

Glad to join the community!

Welcome.

Great color choice and I love the matte PPF.

By chance, did you test drive an SL55?

I have always been a dedicated 911 driver and switched to the SL almost 2 months ago.

I love it, absolutely no regrets, although I did get the SL55 Performance trim because I just couldn’t justify the additional $35k for the 63. To me, the only noticeable difference was above 80mph where the extra hp was noticeable.

Unfortunately I did not drive the 55, but that's because I picked this one up as a CPO since it already had some miles on it. I actually got it for less than a comparably priced new SL55, so I almost had to buy it! I too have heard the difference between the 55 and 63 is not very noticeable unless you're pushing the car.

Nice We should start a group of ex 911 to SL drivers, there seems to be quite a few (happy) examples. You and me included

Add me to that list, have had 8 911s and came out of a ‘22 Carrera S Cab into this car. Couldn’t be happier.

There are definitely some out there, including some on this forum as well. for example: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...ml#post8748463
and with MB's conquest program, it might had helped too.https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...55-s-63-s.html
