I asked this question over on W223 regarding the new S63, but got crickets in response.

What are these new AMG brakes? Are these the same as the AMG Carbon Ceramic brakes? Does anyone know? Just curious.

Composite brakes are not Carbon Ceramics. Composite brakes are multi-piece rotors or multi-metal composites but the rotor itself is always steel.

This is nothing new to AMG; they have been using these for ages. You may not see carbon ceramics due to current supply constraints...

Looking at the MBUSA site, it would appear that the brakes on all three R232 models are the same, with no Carbon Ceramic options. Thats a shame. Any idea as to what the cause could be of supply problems? Porsche using them all up?
