I don't think any produce hardtop convertibles anymore. Too heavy, expensive, and take up a lot of room. Manufacturers are obviously concerned with weight, cost, and mileage.

I see, I was hoping Rolls-Royce still produce hard tops, guess not.

I won’t be buying another open car, this is my last one. There is not one new drop top out there that I find appealing. In addition, the many decades of California sun—I got my first convertible when I was 17–have taken their toll on my fair, German/Polish skin—which is basically why the car has only 4400 miles on it—and my days of top down driving are mostly over. When I find the right buyer, I will be selling my SL and relegate myself to sedans going forward.

You could still enjoy it as a coupe, as you mentioned.

Convertibles are best enjoyed with the top down and 99% of the miles I’ve driven this car have been that way. And, it’s gotten to the point where the car is still SO perfect, that I cannot bring myself to possibly allowing it to become flawed. There is not one nick or blemish of any kind on the car. It has never sat outdoors for more than a few minutes when I haven’t been driving it, so the interior still smells like a new car. My wife is right, I’m saving the car for the next owner.

Just for you! It was a beautiful, 75 degree, partially cloudy day with a cool ocean breeze, so I took the SL out for a 30 mile drive. Here’s a selfie I took.

Took the SL out yesterday for a 100 mile Italian tune up. Beautiful day. Mostly cloudy. High 78F. Light breeze. Even though it was Mother’s Day, no one seemed to be home spending time with their mother. They seemed to all be out adding the moderate to heavy traffic.
Except for the slight aggravation from the unexpected traffic, all in all, a great enjoyable ride!

A more accurate description would be 2 words, the first one being mother.
