SL/R232: Being There
Sometimes being there(right place at the right time) is everything.
Today, when I was hovering around the area of my trunk, with my key in my pocket, I heard the trunk latch mechanism release, and up popped the trunk.
Is this a feature? Because if it is a feature, I never knew about it.
Would someone please save this thread?
It’s too young to die!
PS: 74 of you already had the opportunity.

I was as Chauncey Gardiner embodied, just “being there” just hovering around like a housefly or a gnat.
Anyway, thanks for coming to the rescue. At least this thread can die a dignified death now.

I assume that for good reason. There could be another alternative besides the two you have seemingly limited yourself to.
I asked, in the original post, if it was a feature, somewhat like the foot wave under the back bumper in some wagon models, to open the hatchback.
Now, of the 3, if you gave me those options, I might select the most likely alternative to be the option of the feature.
But I don’t know if it is a feature, so I am asking, because like I said in the original post, I haven’t seen where it is a feature, in the R232.
It could very well be.
But at this rate, I may never know, and then just assume I am left to the other remaining 2 explanations you so kindly outlined.
HANDS-FREE ACCESS lets you power-open or close the trunk with a gentle "kick" of your foot under the rear bumper. It's a convenience you'll really appreciate when you've got an armful of packages.
