finding other seats for sl cars/what will fit

I have two 107 body types, a 1977 450slc and a 1981 380sl. In both the seats are past being called seats in a way I have not seen other car seats fall apart. So I am thinking to switch to some other seat, preferably something out of a newer mercedes. Does anyone know what other seats might fit the older 107 sl models. Will the c230 or perhaps the 600 or compressor? yes I know the car will not be "original" but that isn't what concerns me. I just want a couple of high quality comfortable and durable front seats.

You might be able to adapt something, but the newer style seats are quite thick, so unless your short you're SOL. Best bet, rebuild the seats you have..with fresh springs and pads they'll feel great!

so since I am 6'8 I am really hurting!! has anyone ever modified the original seats - I was thinking of cutting down the seats both in the seat and in the back rest a couple of inches - basically making them smaller and thiner and then recovering them....has anyone ever heard of doing this? do you think it would work?
