I always loved the look of it and wonder how reliable it is? Can it be driven daily if I find one with about 60k miles and not have to worry about major service? What kind of repair expenses can I expect? thanks

Of course, the immediate answer is, it depends... I would not be afraid to use one as a daily driver, as long as I realize it is 19 years old, and had a back-up transportation available! If all the maintenance records and service history is present and verifiable, I'd consider it, otherwise I would pass as a daily driver. After 15 or so years, all the rubber is going to be at or near needing replacement (engine mounts, subframe mounts, hoses, weatherstripping, etc). Timing chain guides are going to be suspect, even on low mileage vehicles. I do not necessarily think a 107SL is particularily different from any well-engineered 19 year old car. I wouldn't want to DEPEND on it as my only source of transportation, no more than I would a BMW, Audi, Chevy or Ford at 19 years of age.
Hope this opinion helps...

i think if you have all the service records you should be all right if you use it as a daily driver car... you will spend about $3000 plus... if you change all the fluids, hoses, belts, spark plugs, engine /.tranny mounts, sub frame mounts ,replace weather strips, replace all the filters, checking all the electrical, mechanicals including A/C,heating..wheel alignment..(if all done at MB dealer)...good luck
