380SL Trunk won't open! +erratic idle
Hi everyone,
I have an 81 380SL that I am selling for a friend on eBay. I went to start it yesterday and the battery was dead. I went to open the trunk to charge the battery and the trunk wouln't open. The key turns the lock cylinder, but the button does not release the lock. When you rotate the key it can be removed in two positions that are 90 degrees rotation from each other. The key will also turn further counter clockwise, but not a full 90 degrees.
Any ideas how to get the lock working and get the trunk open???
I charged the battery via the terminal block under the hood, so at least i'm not completely dead in the water. I just can't open the trunk!
The other issue I am experiencing is an erratic idle. After the high cold start idle switches off, the engine surges very distinctly. It seems that it is likely a vacuum leak, but I was hoping someone might be able to point me to a common failure point so I don't have to check every hose under the hood.
I appreciate any help you guys can provide and thank you in advance.
If you are interested, the car is for sale here:

PS: for those of you on the sl107.com forum, sorry for the cross post!
