Headrest removal and replacement
Anyone know how to remove the headrests and subsequently replace them...is there a trick? Just pulling upward doesn't work, and I don't want to force it and break something. It's a 1985 280SL. Same interior and body as the usual 1985 380SL.

RadSteve,
Of course there's a trick...it wouldn't be a Mercedes without one!
On my 560SL, and I assume on yours, about 4"- 6" below the centerline of the top seam in the seatback, is a hidden release button. If you apply upward pressure to the headrest while pressing the back of the seat in the area I described, the headrest should slide up and out. If after trying for 10 minutes or 1 Heineken, whichever comes first, it doesn't work, take it to any auto upholstery shop and they will pop it out for you probably for free.
