'85 380SL Rear View Mirror Removal

I read that the interior rear view mirror is held with 3 ball bearings and that you must force it down and to the side to remove the mirror. I have tried that with some force, but I am afraid of breaking the post. Has anyone been successful in removing the mirror and can you share your method with me?

I am replacing the visors and the end clip on the drivers side is does not hold the visor all the way up. I would like to replace it.

Rear View Mirror Removal

I did it! After reading some archived advice, I was able to remove the mirror. The best advice I got was to first spray some WD40 around the base of the mirror. But, what really helped, was the advice to wrap a towel around the entire mirrow and post and wiggle the mirror from side to side (Not front to back). The towel give you much more leverage.

I installed two new sun visors and that was a project itself. If anyone needs help installing new visors, let me know, I have some pictures and have done it.

Thanks all!

If you could post pics of the sunvisor replacement, I would be most thankful.

Thanks for the great information. I am doing the same job on my 1985 380SL.
