Removal/re-Install of Water Gas Temp Gauge

The silver center piece on my gauge has fallen off and is lying on the bottom of the gauge. 1) Has anyone removed the gauge and how difficult is it. 2) Is it easy to take apart one out. 3) Is this a mjor project or should I just replace the entire thing? I talked to the MB dealor and he said that a new one would run around $750 plus labor, so I thought I might want to try and remove, then super glue it back on. Any suggestions?
