Low oil pressure

The oil pressure on my 83 280SL drops to about 1.5 atmospheres at idle when it is hot. How much should I be concerned about this? AS a first step I thought I would try a oil change with a higher viscosity oil. Any recommendations would be very welcome.

Pete,

What was the reading prior to these misshaps. I know some oil pumps have a spring that when weak, the pressure drops. I don't know if yours is this way. Just by taking it out and replacing this small item the pump will be back in business, or if you are lucky you can strech it to the original tension. Careful not to use the car while having oil pump problems or your check book will most likely drop pressure too.
