SL/R107: Signatures
On the driver's door frame of my 1982 380SL, near the VIN plate is a silver strip with what appears to be 2 signatures with 1982 at the end of one signature.
I'm guessing this has something to do with the assemblers of the car, but not too sure. Was that a past practice for these cars?
Any help would be appreciated.
Is your car some kind of special edition, or is it an AMG?
BTW, I have 4 plates on my door frame including the signature plate.
The top one appears to have "172 00" after it.
The bottom one appears to have "6-19-82" after it.
The mfg date is 05/82.
My sticker has two dates, 8/19/81, and 8/17/81.
Its also in a different place (on the door itself) and has different signatures.
However, it IS a Mercedes sticker. Its on a special foil that, when etched, reveals blue under pressure. It also has a very faint Mercedes emblem in the gap to the left of the signatures and some unreadable typed wording beneath the signatures.
