'79 450SL (UK) - will it run on Gasohol
I'm in Thailand and am thinking of buying a 1979 450SL (originally from the UK). However, I have a (potential) problem - it is very hard to find non-gasohol fuel here. So will this car run on Gasohol?
I have researched this and the potential problems seem to be fuel gaskets, pipes and filters, however, I read nothing definitive - some say they've been running fro 2 or 3 years on gasohol no problems - and others have to replace parts after a few months! I'm somewhat confused and would appreciate any advice.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry, I should have said E10 Gasohol - I think the 'best' quality I could put in it (given what we have here in Phuket) would be Shell V-Power 95 - http://www.shell.co.th/home/content/...new_fuels.html

E10 is very common here in the states and I have not had problems with it. The warning I have found is to use heet or another additive that absorbs water if the car is not driven regularly. Stabil for marine applications was also recommended when storing the vehicle.

Thank you very much - your reply has cleared-up one major concern! I will go and have another look at this car in a few weeks - and will then try and decide whether or not to go for it. Its hard over here as (a) there are very few to choose from, (b) service history means little and (c) the odometer reading will almost certainly provide more fiction than fact! Having said that this one looked 'reasonable' (please ignore the price, I know its expensive but then 'anything' that's imported will be at least double the price it is in Europe or the States
