I LOVE my car but alas - all of a sudden I am having idle problems and the check engine light seems to coincide with the idle cut out /surge issue. Here is what I have extracted from several posts that it could be any of the following:
- Fuel filter
- Fuel pump
- Fuel pump relay
- OVP
- Idle air control valve
- 02 Sensor
- ECU
- Oxygen/lambala sensor
- Vacuum leaks or connections
The car is in the shop right now and they seem to be scratching their heads, should I add anything to this list to have them check?
Thank you!!!

Any good independent MB shop should be able to pressurize the fuel system and find the problem. Don't let them run down a laundry list of parts replacement until they get a better idea of what the issue is. On these old dogs, 90% of the time it's a vacuum leak somewhere in the intake. Any un-metered air that gets into the CIS will cause problems.
If this shop does not do MB work, get it someplace else quick!

Welp, they fixed it (I hope)!
Overload Protection Relay and a faulty Ignition Coil. I really hope thats all it was...
Thanks for the input!!!

It won't help a '72. Totally different FI system. The '72 is a D-Jet his is a KE-Jet. You don't have an OVP.
