Battery Vent Tube 1977 450SL (r107)

I have a '77 107 with the battery in a box in the trunk. I just replaced it (Walmart everstart maxx 49 -$77) and the battery has a vent tube, but no vent in the car that I can find. My '05 SL has a vent tube through the trunk floor. Anyone know if there is one?
Thanks.

Makes sense to me as well that there should be a vent tube, but there isn't.

Thanks. I read that in the old days (ie 1977) batterys didn't have vents. Guess it's true. Maybe that's why the "vault" used to enclose the battery in case of explosion?

I'd think more likely to protect your luggage from a nasty old battery.
