SL/R107: friend is considering buying a 85 SL380

friend is considering buying a 85 SL380

gonna go take a look at it this week. the SL/SLC-Class forums look a little bare ... hope thats just because there just aren't that many of these gems left :-)

Anyways just seeing if there's anything I ought to look out for on these models. If it drives well we'll take it to a dealer and do a PSI - but I figure hell, get some tidbits or tips from ya guys and it'll help give me some leverage with the salesman.

There are plenty of 107s out there. This particular forum is just sadly quiet.

I recommend you check for rust and rust, then check again for rust.

Also during your inspection, be sure to have the subframe mounts inspected.

Although considered the ugly stepchild of SLs, there's something to be said for 20+ MPG and the use of regular gas.
