1985 380SL
Removing 380SL hardtop
Just purchased a 1985 380SL; trouble romoving hardtop; the rear tang won't release. I can lift the top approx 1"-1-1/2" off body but tang will not release. Does safety lever (behind drivers seat) have to be in a certain position? Any suggestions??

Be sure that the small locking lever behind the crank (with knob) is all the way down. This device pulls the plunger away from the rear latch. Do you have an owners manual? This is discussed in a separate book provided with the manual.
