Hard top removal
I have an '89 560 SL and am having trouble getting the rear pin connection to the hard top to release. I have only taken this thing on and off a couple times but this time I just cannot get it off.
It loosens, but does not release completely. Any tricks?

Alan, the release is a two function contraption, one to engage and one to tension. Sometimes the first position >engage< snags on the roof as you lift it off. The trick is to push down on the rear edge while some-one else operates the spring release. Once you have the roof off make sure the hook is going its full travel. the little spring clip on the cable outer end sometimes breaks or pops out. Derek. Edinburgh.
