560 sl fuel filter

Simple question. In which direction should the fuel flow arrow on the fuel filter point. Toward the right rear wheel or the other way?

find the fuel line that goes forward to the motor. Point it in that direction.

fuel filter flow

Thank you for your response, but that does not answer my question. There are at least three fuel lines there and no way to tell which goes to the engine. However, I asked my mechanic if the filter was before or after the fuel pumps in fuel flow and he told me the pumps are before the filter, therefore since the pumps are on the right side of the filter, viewed from the rear of the car, the flow arrow should point away from the right rear tire or to the left.
Since this is the first time I have changed the filter in over 300,000 miles I wonder just how essential it is.

I can't give a specific direction, but I believe arrow should point away from the metal pipe manifold.
