81380SL--engine runs cold, thermostat OK

Hi--

I've got a '81 380SL with around 36,000 miles. I noticed that the heat gauge was around 40 degrees when it had been normally around 81. The heater put out hot air.

I put in a new thermostat. The heat gauge is still around 40. The heater puts out hot air.

Do I need to change the heat sensor, or is there some other item I'm overlooking?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Assuming the other cluster gauges appear to be reading correctly, that is where I'd look next.
