Yup, got an '85 380SL. "Best of Show" and all that stuff. Used to race it. Is the 450 faster? Depends. The earlier 450's are quite peppy, but as more and more polution control stuff was put on them, the worse the ran. Late ones have the cat converter under the hood, and the heat causes vapor lock. The 380 aluminum block engine was designed for the U.S. market, and designed for our polution control regs. Downside was that it was slow. After only 5 years, MB came out with the 560 to counter the underpowered claim.
Well I found one today. And oops. Odometer'd been rolled back. Crap. That's twice now I've found fraud on these. I've only looked at 3! When am I going to find my car?!?!?
Sorry, I'm frustrated...
