Interested in buying a 560SL
Hey all, I'm searching for a weekend cruiser to contrast my daily driver C300, and I think i've finally settled on the R107 560SL. I am currently looking at a well kept 1987 model but nothing is final yet and I am willing to take my time to find the right car. I was wondering what do I need to keep a look out for when checking these cars out? How do i make sure I'm not getting screwed or picking a car which will give me more problems than pleasure? I live in New England if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advanced!

Check closely for rust.
Examine maintenance and repair records and see what has been done to it over the years, especially timing chain guides at that age.
Check that the AC is operating properly.
Condition of the soft top.
Age of tires
Take it to a shop whose staff is knowledgable about the older 107s for a PPI.
I'm sure I'm forgetting several items.
Still figure in a couple of thousand for unexpected items you miss.
Good luck!
