1986 560SL Instrument Cluster

At the base of the speedometer on my 560SL there is a small, round, silver disc covering the the base (bottom) of the needle. The disc has fallen off, and is laying behind the glass shield, at the bottom of the speedometer area.

Can anyone tell me how difficult it would be to get to that disk and use an adhesive to put it back in place? Is removal of the dash necessary?

Thanks for any response and advice offered.

forgive me if I've left something out...
disconnect airbag electrical connection
remove airbag
remove steering wheel
remove cluster
remove cover from cluster
glue on button

Big issue is the removal of steering wheel. If you check the benzworld.org 107 forum you can find a thorough writeup for the job.

abiby is close but

After removing the cluster, the gauge in question can be easily removed from the back and will give access to repair the button.

Same here...

That has been annoying me for several months on my '88 560sl as well, but this morning as I was heading to work I noticed that everything in my instrument cluster except for the clock has stopped working. I've tried restarting the car, still out, so I guess I will check the fuses tonight and hope that is the problem, but I doubt it will be. I'll probably be on here searching for the answer later...
