Can I change the engine of my SL 450 77' with an engine of 350 SL 76'
hi, I have an SL 450 1977 engine number 117985.12.012457. The engine needs replacing, can I replace it with another i have found, an engine of an SL 350 1976. Its works very well and done low mileage, number is 11698222016617.

This isn't direct help, but I replaced the 4.5 in my '76 SL w/ a 4.5 from a '78 Sl and there were issues. My indie worked and twisted to make the ancillary parts match/work. The engine, as such, was okay, but different intake manifold and some vacuum issues made for a major headache. Add to that, it's still not 100% and I'd say be very, very careful. Just my two cents.

I bought this engine to transplant into my 1973 350sl.
I wasn't able to hear it running, but presume you did when you were considering it. It was out of the car when I saw it, but it had low miles as you know.
I am in the process of preparing it for instal and would like to know how it was running when you viewed it. An independent opinion would be appreciated.
