Unhappy 380sl Antenna

My mechanic disconnected the power antenna b/c it was draining the battery. He said a new one would be $600, can this be right??

Thumbs up

Piece of cake; my 1977 450 SL had the original power antenna, a big bulky steel thing that was rusted out. It eventually stopped working as well. Easy solution; a Hirschmann replacement antenna is not original, but will get the job done and look on the exterior as original as the one your car came with. They run about $160 new on the web, but I picked mine up on eBay, a brnad new one as well, for only $60. They are easy to install (as long as you have the wiring properly labelled). $600 for a new one? Sounds like time to find a new, more honest mechanic......
