My father recently passed, and my mother is considering selling their 1981 380SL, because she has a difficult time driving it without a tall seat cushion that allows her to see over the dash. In my effort to assist her from many miles away, I've made numerous unsuccessful attempts to locate the vehicle specifications through online VIN searches. I hope that someone on this forum would be kind enough to furnish complete data information using the supplied VIN for this vehicle.

I've been able to determine some general information such as model year, assembly location, engine size, vehicle type, etc. However, I'd like to determine specific MB interior and exterior color names along with any other specific information that does not seem to be available online through a VIN check. Based upon the age of the vehicle, I suspect that this information may not be included in the BA45A code, and I may have to ask my mother to locate a data plate under the hood. Please advise.
