560 sl collectable?
was watching Barrett-Jackson awhile back and a 560 sl sold for 12k and they commented it would be the next mercedes collectable in the future, prices would be going up. anyone seeing it might happen?

on the strength of most collecters that i know the sl class roadsters will be going up in value, one of my friends who sells used mercedes tells me that the 86 through 89 sl's are the best of all the early one's. i see them for sale from 4,000 up to 32,000. i cant tell you what the actual selling price's are but i bought my 89 with 36.000 for eight grand. i had to put about another five into it because it sat for years and needed every thing from a tranny rebuild to complete brake job.

the reason I ask is I bought my 88 about 9 years ago, for 11k, ready to drive, and it now needs the a/c worked on and at first I thought about selling it to make room for another toy, but now am thinking about fixing it and keeping it since I really like driving it, and if the value is going up over the next 5 to 10 years then another reason to keep it.

Personally I don't see these climbing in the near future, largely due to the sheer number that were built...and still on the road. Iconic body style, but it breaks my heart to see what some sell for these days. Maybe in 20-30 years....but that will be my kid's problem if I actually decide to keep the car.
