R107 hard top storage?

It's Fall here in NC and before I buy/ build something to raise/ lower/ store the hardtop. What type of damage (permanent creases, etc.) to the soft top can I expect if I put the hard top on for the Winter (3-4 months)? I'd rather worry about it in the Spring but if it's going to mess up the soft top being compressed than it's not worth it. Any thoughts or experiences are greatly apprecaited.

I found a solution for $120 from Auto Zone. Allows storage of the hardtop vertically on a metal "cart" with wheels.
