Purpose of switch at rear of engine compartment that hood contacts when closed?
Hi All,

Does anyone know what is the purpose of the switch at rear of engine compartment on the firewall of a 1986 560SL that has a plunger that the hood contacts when the hood is closed?

Should of thought of that as I am the original owner but, I thought might have been an underhood light that was not originally installed.

Factory alarm sure says it all.
