SL/R107: Help! Transmission suddenly died.
After resolving fuel issues and changing the oil, it started right up. Changed tires, belts, hoses, brake fluid and rear pads, coolant drain & flush, transmission fluid & filter replaced with Dextron III. Drove it 5 miles or so at the airport with no issues except running a little hot at low speed (either the electric fan sensor or air in coolant).
The next day I backed it out of the hangar, put it in drive, and nothing. Put it back in reverse, still nothing. Checked fluid level - OK. Put it in park, can't push it, but can in neutral.
The next day, added Lubeguard platinum and blocked it up level on Jack stands. Ran it 20 minutes or so - the wheels didn't spin regardless of gear selected. The bushings in the linkage are missing, but I don't believe that's the problem, since moving the arm on the transmission by hand doesn't help.
New to this, and not much of a mechanic. Any suggestions?
Firstly, I bought a 4 CD Wis off EBAY, pretty impressive, but it covered everything but 560SL.
After a couple of days, I put the car on jacks, installed a pressure gauge, and ran it with the intension of determining whether the problem was in the pump or valve body.
It went to work. Not sure why.
