New 1986 560SL owner
Hello all.. We are in the middle of picking up a 1986 560sl and Being totally new to this world of vechicle im curious about a few things.. Common issues, fixes etc and also id prefer to make this eurospec as possible so tips tricks and websites leading me to some info and or parts on this would be amazing.. it has 92000 miles and "apparently" it has new rotors brakes bushings etc with 92K miles.. very well maintained from 100s of photos seem perfect and underneath seems to be 0 oil or fluid leaks.. A friend whom is very very adept car man test drove it and says the car runs perfectly on highway and ac blows cold only issue seemed be need a slight alignment which they went ahead and id.. SO eurospec me warn me advise me.. we are apparantly in it now.

If not recently done it is due for timing chain system service. Replace upper guides, chain and tensioner. Guides become brittle with time and heat cycles. Main cause of catastrophic engine failure.

I am in exactly the same position... I have been a 19 years BMW 325 owner until some clown pulled out in front of me.
I took the settlement (more than I paid for it in 2001) and bought a 560SL for $7,000 on eBay. I am picking it up on Saturday! (Sight unseen!)
