SL/R107: In my 1984 380 sl , the driver side speaker isn’t working.

In my 1984 380 sl , the driver side speaker isn’t working.
Both speakers worked fine a month ago, I know for a fact that they driver side speaker cannot be busted because I’ve only drove the car a handful of time and I’ve never had the stereo system on high volume. The passenger side speaker worlds just fine, the last owner did put a new radio in it but left the original speaker. If you know anything at all please help me out, thank you

I had the same issue with both of my 1980 450 SLs. I'm a novice at this as well. I first tested the speaker by removing the screws and speaker and hooking up to a 9 volt battery. The speaker will pulsate if still working properly. A week later after replacing the Servo climate control unit with one of the new electronic control systems ( this includes removing the amplifier), the speaker began working again. The speaker issue seemed to coincide with the amplifier failure, which often happens when the servo units go bad. I didn't spend anytime figuring out why, but everything works great. I'm not sure how this applies to your model and year since I believe the Climate control system was changed after the 1980 model.

Yeah I think it did change. I also too put the speaker and then looked at the electrical. It will go in and out from being at the normal volume to being super quiet. The climate control on my 380SL works fine except for the air conditioning which I plan on fixing. I think it might just be best to replace the speakers. This is my first SL so I don’t really know a lot about the cars, but I love them
