I recently purchased a 1985 MB 500SL Roadster at an estate sale, the car is in great shape and just needs some TLC. The only problem is that aside from not having any maintenance records the locking handle for the side locks that is meant to be stored in the glove box was missing. I have been looking at different sites trying to find out a new or used handle. The front handles were in the glove box but, the side handle appears to be missing. I'm not sure what it looks like but I believe based on what I've read looks similar to the picture below. If anyone knows where one may be available please don't hesitate to contact me. thanks in advance...

Same handles, usually a pair so 2 people can work each side. Mine came with a black leather cover on the handle on one, and the other was all chrome. I've seen them on ebay and several of the mail order parts sites.

Thanks, I'll continue looking. I have found the locking handles for the front but, the sides I cannot find anywhere. If you happen to come across them, please send me the link I really would appreciate it. Thanks.

The handles should all interchange. If the rear side hold downs won't allow the handles to insert, you might try a large screwdriver to turn the hold down into a workable angle where you can insert the handle. Autohaus, partsgeek, pelican and ebay all show listings.

I just went out to the garage and checked....one handle will do all the hold downs.
