So, basically I've got an opportunity to trade a high performance air-cooled type 4 engine for a '79 450SL.

The SL is supposed to have <150,000 miles, clean paint, AC system, brakes. Interior is also good, except that the drivers seat may need some re-upholstery, which means get both done so it doesn't look stupid.

Any advice on what else I should be looking for on this thing? I don't know anything about MBZ's except that this may be my first one. FYI, I am an engine tech specializing in VW & Porsche.

I also will probably need a new dash. How hard/impossible is that to get?
