Heater not working

I just had the odometer gears replaced in my 1985 280SL Euro. All went well, but now the heater does not work. I have the version with the small wheel with the temp indicator in red for heat and blue for AC.. The engine temp indicator also does not come up to its usual temperature of around 80. I don't usually drive the car in winter. Yesterday the temp was in the 40s. The heater worked OK prior to the odometer work. Is the failure related or is it a coincidence? Maybe the engine thermostat needs to be replaced?

who removed odometer?
maybe they loosened an electrical or vacuum line to the HVAC controls?

I replaced the thermostat. Temp now stabilized around 90. Heater still not working as well as the windows not working. Is there a common relay that serves both the heater and the windows? My mech says there is no power to the switches.
